What's the difference between Gotta Run & Run Fit?

Gotta Run is a 30 week season geared toward training for the Houston Marathon in January. Many people have several other goal races throughout the season and use our group runs as supplements toward those goals.
Gotta RunFit is a total body conditioning program, running 14 weeks starting in February through May. Workouts include strength and conditioning workouts, core training and long distance running with a goal 5k/10k race at the end of the program. Every session is
coach led and will cover distance running, form, strength and stretching techniques. Group training to continue your individual goals and current level of running.

What is GottaRun, and how much is it to join?

This is a 30 week "outside the box" training regiment. Loosely based on the Brooks/Hanson Distance Project, no one run is more important than the next or the last. Back to back conditioning days, as well as consecutive long run days will train your body to perform past fatigue.  The longest training run is 16 miles. Our goal race will be the Houston Marathon. Participants will receive a short sleeve T-shirt. Group sessions will be about 1 hour throughout the week both in the morning and the evening, On Saturdays & Sundays plan on meeting in the morning. Head over to our Programs + Fees page for pricing details.

Where will we meet?

We have several meeting locations, but a few of our regular locations are, Cinco Ranch Jr. High and the parking lot at the Fellowhip Church on Peek & Fry

Don’t worry; we won’t be changing it every group session. As your training schedule progresses, around every couple weeks, we will also change locations to best fit the needs of that particular training evolution. You will be given ample reminders when a location change is going to happen. You will receive a training schedule & calendar showing group session times and locations. It is encouraged that, as a current member, you join our private Gotta Run Facebook Group page to receive updates on where the group meets will be in any given week. If you are not a current member, you may Like our Gotta Run page, instead.

When will we meet?

For 30 weeks, our Gotta Run group will meet throughout the week - both morning and evening. You are welcome to come to either time or both if you wish (over-achiever!). Everyone will meet-up on Saturday mornings at 6:00 AM. The week day sessions will run for just over an hour. On Saturdays, plan on the session to last between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This is because most of our longer runs will be on Saturdays. All participants will be expected to arrive on time.

What should I bring and wear?

First and foremost a positive attitude and the desire to get stronger, run longer and be faster. Feel free to bring a water bottle, although a cold water cooler and cups will be available. A towel and an exercise mat is also highly suggested. As for attire, wear a pair of running shoes and comfortable workout clothing.

What does my paid registration include?

Aside from a great and challenging workout each and every time we meet and the constant motivation to help you get through it, participants will also receive a short sleeve tech shirt.

Who can join our program?

Everyone and anyone! Our program is tailored for all fitness levels. You will most likely recognize some of these people around your neighborhoods. They are moms and dads, men and women, seniors and teenagers that, like you, want to live or continue to live a more active lifestyle.

What should I eat before the group sessions?

During the week, a good hearty lunch and lots of water that afternoon should suffice. Those attending the 5 AM session will need to make sure your dinner and water intake will fuel you through the morning. On the event you wake up hungry, a bagel or toast with your morning drink of choice should be fine too.

What will the workouts be like?

Each and every session will start with a short warm-up run or walk. Afterwards, we will perform some dynamic stretches and silly walks as a group. Depending on the workout for the day, you will either break-up into smaller groups or given instructions for all do the same workout, at your own pace of course. Expect your training to focus on core conditioning and upper/lower body strengthening. You will be asked to perform incline drill repeats, jump rope, speed and long distance running and many other physical exercises. Later in the training schedule, you will also utilize suspension straps to keep things challenging and fun. Equipment will be provided.

Is there a refund policy?

Unfortunately we do not have a refund policy. However, if you are unable to continue with your training due to injury, issue you a credit towards another Gotta Run training program. Unlike, other programs, we will also allow you to transfer your registration to someone else before the end of the 4th week. There is no cash refund.

Will we workout when the weather is bad?

The rule of thumb is, if it’s only raining, we will still meet up, especially if we are meeting at either of the two parking garages. If there is lightening or even a chance of lightening, we will consider cancelling the group session or relocating to a parking garage if we aren’t already going to be there. Your safety is paramount and not taken lightly. Ultimately, if you do not feel like driving in the rain or working out inside a parking garage during the rain, resort to your Sunday training schedule and call it good. Any deviation from plan will be communicated to you via text message or Facebook page.
